Leaf springs,and welding

Minor leaf springs
Can you buy the clamps to keepthe spring leaves together,mine have rotted away

Also for welding plates on inner wings, how thickdo you recommend the steel sheet is

Probably cheaper or easier to buy a new spring, they are about £25 + VAT I think, best to replace the rubbers at the same time. Unless of course you are feeling flush for cash, one of the suppliers does a rear end spring kit, which includes all the shackle plates, U bolts, springs, rubbers, nuts, bolts, pivot pins for the whole rear both sides for just over £100.

The sheet's 18 gauge (1.2 mm) btw

You could easily make new spring 'clamps' - just strip steel bent over at the ends and drill to take a long thin bolt! Then fix to the spring leaf as original.
Although BG is probably correct about the sheet steel thicknes - I would use something a little thicker.
I have to say - if your clamps have rusted away - the springs are probably past their 'use by' date!
