Transferring number plate

Hi
I have just bought a 1954 split screen minor and was looking for advice on transferring the plate. At present its a non runner but has a solid shell.
Do i need to mot it or is there any way round it?

Basically it needs to have a current, or expired no more then 12 months ago, tax disc otherwise you will have to MOT / Tax before you can transfer the number.

Yes - you will need to MOT it to be able to get a new tax disc - to transfer the number. But if the shell is solid - it should be easy enough to get an MOT. Remember - it just has to be safe - it doesn't have to look pretty to get an MOT.
