Hammerite new rollable formulation

Just bought a tin today. Thought being able to use a roller for larger areas is a great idea, especially with Hammerite.
Went online and did a "Google", trying to find info re: this new rollable Hammerite. So far the posts I've read have been negative in the extreme.

Anybody used this new rollable stuff.....is it any good?

All Hammerite these days is rubbish imo.

For finishing I use Japlac or pretty much any enamel I can get form B&Q.
For protection/hidden areas use chassis paint.

Maybe its me but Hammerite seems to get worse everytime I use it - to the point where I now wont.

hi yes you can use a roller i did not long a go used the small rollers 4" ones you use for gloss went on very well only neaded one coat neil

Hammerite has been used for years by car enthusiasts but that loyalty hasnt paid off. The last time I used smoothrite it took 4 coats to get a decent finish. It is now far too thin to be of much use. There are plenty of better products available.

Thanks, guys.
I suppose I'll go ahead with this new stuff and give it a go.
It's not a "finished" area I'm using it in, it's the little hood above the cab on a Vauxhall Combo van...so it's not vital that I get a quality finish.

Will certainly consider using other products in future.

I'm glad it's not just me that's found modern hammerite isn't up to much. I guess we've just got to get used to the 'greening' of products as they take the worst of the volatile nasties out.......but if you end up using 2 or 3 times more to do a less effective job I would have thought the environment still loses - just in different ways.

The theory is definitely sound as it used a lot in industry.
Their spray gun looks a bit odd and will only work with their paint.
Anyone know why it wouldn't be possible to make a similar set-up that
you could clamp to an aerosol or spray gun to get the same effect?
It is noticeable in the film the the spray is very fine, almost invisible until it arrives on the surface.
It would be brilliant for painting inside box sections etc.

I used hamerite garage door paint with a roller. It smell like standard Hamerite and has done a first class job

Well, applied it with a roller this morning, and I have to say I'm very pleased with the result. Went on well with a cheapo foam 4" roller, and did the job with one coat. Waiting for it to dry now...
