Problem with oil??

Post by muggwump »

Lots of you will know my ongoing issues with oil leaks and breather set ups but I was wondering if the car was filled with a thinner oil, like stanadrd modern engine oil instead of 20w50, will this contribute to the oil leaking past the rear crank?

I ask because I know it went for an MOT befor I bought it and they said they had re filled the oil. The oil looks very clean and new.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Modern oils contain too may aggressive additives that 'over clean' older style engines. Use 20/50 to API SE such as Halfords or Comma.

I use the cheapest because it is not in the engine long enough.
