Re-registering

Post by sickrick »

Hi, new to the MMOC and Morris Minors, picking my first one up on Friday. Only thing is the current owner has lost the V5 DVLA gave him since tranfering the old Rutland plates to his new vehicle in the mid eighties. DVLA couldn't help me with just the chassis number alone. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to retrieving the current reg or re-registering altogether?

Thanks Rick.

DVLA should be able to find the vehicle's V5 details based on previous owner's name and address (if he has one).. The V5 should have the chassis number.
Provided you can show a receipt with the correct chassis number then you should be able to get an updated V5 (not for free) - however to do this you'd need to find someone helpful at DVLA. You may be better off going to a local office (if there is one near you). I've found some very helpfuul people at the local offices, but I wouldn't want to promise that.

There's a good chance however that you've got a slight error when reading the chassis number. If that happens then you get more trouble to get it sorted.
