Steering shake

Post by Hattymender »

Getting vibration through steering when braking at about 40mph. Sometimes better or worse than other times. Standard 1968 setup. Fine above and below that speed and no other problems with the steering.

Suggestins where to look please?

Cheers

General wear in the steering joints/rubber bushes/king-pin and trunnions. Could also be brake fluid on the linings (leaking cylinder) - or out of true circle brake drum -ie , it's warped ! Nothing for it but to inspect everything carefully.

Check the tie rods for play due to worn rubbers or wear at the Fork end.
