Of course the car will be used, even today on a visit to show it off to mum and dad I ended up carrying home a boot full of 'useful stuff'.
I still need to pass the local inspection and get a 'J'number. Then I can drive whenever I want. So many cars need to be inspected and even though I booked mid november, my test is 28 Jan. Technically I am not allowed to drive a UK reg car on a Jersey Licence apart from delivery to the test center but the folk there said if I carried the booking form, I could drive about a bit.

Update.
Finally the big day arrived for the full day inspection and registration to a Jersey plate.
Passed the inspection but I am stuck with a catch 22 situation.
As I have taken the car to Jersey, and Charles Ware have sent the logbook to swansea I do not have the original and the local authority will not register it. Swansea do not send out logbooks to Jersey and can find nothing on their system. I have had to fill out an export form now whick will take 3-4 weeks to process. I am sick of the Jersey DVLA miserable unsmiling jobsworths. They have bills of sale a pile of documentation, a photocopy of the logbook (which Customs accepted for the exempt import) and the refuse to register as they dont have a piece of paper that they will no doubt just send back to Swansea. The 2 other cars tested the same day both failed for equally stupid reasons.
The chap who tested the car said that it had been done very well apart from not steam cleaning the chassis prior to undersealing it. He said in 99 percent of restorations this is never done and he cannot understand why.
He scraped off around the repairs and said they had been welded very neatly.
So no Jersey plates yet.

I hope you repainted back where he had 'scraped off' ! I would have expected Ware to do full scrape back to good metal followed by antirust primer and solid paint - and only then 'underseal' - if at all.
Nasty red-tape guddle with DVLA - I expect Ware will sort it out since they sent the V5 to DVLA ? I have to say - I take a scan of anything I send to DVLA so I have the evidence!
So meantime can you or can you not drive the car ??

Technically I am not allowed to drive a uk reg vehicle on a Jersey licence, but the tester said that if I took the test papers with me it would be ok if stopped.

Trout tickling, I think the English used to call it - hang on
"to catch fish with the hands, especially by groping under stones or at the banks of a stream"

Yippee finally got all of the paperwork sorted she is now a Jersey Girl.

Does anyone know how to fit a new white handbrake knob, my other moggy screws on but this one popped off and wont go on, I got a new one but did not want to damage it by hammering into place.

Hi Chickenjohn
I have morris traveller which I am looking to entrust to a centre for a ground up restoration.
I am looking for any recommendation for centres people have used or ones to avoid.
If you could let me know the garage you would only use that would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Joe
