The time has come for me to roll the mog onto its side to finish the welding and get some paint on the underside Whats the best way to go about it? Ive heard the best way is to just put some old rags down on the ground and then lift it up so its resting on its side, does this damage anything? Bearing in mind all the sills have been replaced and extensively welded!
thanks,
YG
Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!
Get a car roller, borrow one if you can. These either bolt to the bumper mounts or the hubs. Or make your own roller that goes through the car like a pig on a spit.
Not really possible at the moment, i dont have the money to buy one and the only one i have any possibilty of borrowing is one that bolts to the hubs.....and i dont want to have to put all the front and rear suspension components back on to roll it! Because A it will take ages and B the back axel will be in the way of my welding and painting.
Ive seen pictures of them resting on their side and either safely propped up or tied up, surely that will do?

Should be fine - roll it onto something realtively soft/resiliant. We used to do it regularly with Minis !! Provided it's just a bare bodyshell (doors and glass removed) - it won't be all that heavy.
