My local motor factor is saying three to four weeks to get hold of the socket that's needed to fit the starter dog (and the steering wheel nut and the crankshaft nut, which happen to be the same size).
Does anyone know a supplier who stocks these sockets?
For the starter dog you will need a deep socket - but can do the job just as good with a spanner. Readily available from autojumbles, ebay & a lot cheaper than from your motor factor.
If you want a socket for the other 2 - how about this one going cheaply.
If you are still looking for a deep socket, the size is 33mm I have just bought one off ebay for £10.89 delivered. I am now after a 48mm for the hub nuts but the best price is over £30
I'm a bit of a tool collector by nature, my wife goes mad when I buy "yet another tool" sadly experience has taught me that if I borrow a tool I end up buying 2, one to replace the one I have lost or broken, the second to do the original job because I have returned a brand new tool to the lender before anything else happens to it.

You could try Bakers Dozen in Lowestoft. 01502 564120. I got a box spanner off him for that job, about £6.50 incl postage. Brilliant chap for old spanners etc.

Will be giving them a call - thanks for the details
