Should I scrap the Morris Minor??

Post by Neefy »

Hi there

My wifes cousin has asked me to get rid of her late fathers 1967 Morris Minor 1000 (2 door) which has been stored in her garage since 1983!

It appears complete but the body has seen better days, would anyone be interested in this or should I ask the scrapman to take it away?

Don't want the hassle of removing bits of it so the car would have to be trailered away.

Thanks

Dave

as said, where is it.

I am sure if one of us are close enough someone would want it for cheap spares.

scrap

Any Morris Minor which is still intact should not be broken. There are more than enough used parts about to supply those who wish to buy second hand bits. If the car is complete and can be resurrected then it should be!

The problem here is that many people will say that if the car isnt bought it will be scrapped. Tat yards will only pay 30 quid for a car, yet as soon as someone comes forward and shows an interest in the car the seller starts claiming it is a collectors car and is apparrently worth thousands!!!

A Minor for restoration, with no MOT is only worth 50 pounds maximum just like any other car.

While I completely agree that it shouldn't be scrapped, I have to say that it's worth at least 3 times that if weighed in these days

DON'T SCRAP IT she deserves a second chance. I paid £50 for mine and although needed work I set a budget to restore her. Wanted to show it could be done! She appeared in a mag too. I am about £200 over my budget of £500. I know over time I will spoil her and spend a bit more. But we are now at the stage were we are waiting for good weather so we can spray her for the show. She'll be no concourse car but she looks good and will be a daily runner.

I'm sure there is a mad moggy owner out there that will give her some love and tlc.

Good luck...she doesn't deserve the tat man.

Do you have any pictures of it? or a more detailed description of what is actually rusted through on it?

Thanks Dave1949 didn't realise " You called" meant he was interested! I will PM Welung666 to see what he wants to do.

Thanks for the responses, does seem a shame to scrap it so I'll see whether the interest leads to anything.

Cheers
