Not strictly speaking. As I understand it, any ordinary member of the branch does not necessarily have to belong to the MMOC. However if the branch is to be covered by the Club's insurance, all officials do.

If I am mistaken about this I am sure someone will correct me.

That as I understand it too Judge. Only committee members have to be national mmoc members any one who is classed as a helper of the committee or just a local branch member does not. Again, it’s all down to insurance.

james - thanks very much for posting those photos - it looks (and sounds) like a great event!

If only branches didn't meet of an evening I'd join this one like a shot (can't do evenings due to disability stuff).

Annette thanks for the link to your photos too, great stuff! :D Lovely to see such good stuff for people to do (scalextric etc) once they had had their fill of the Minors - and also lovely to see a racing Minor with all its mods.

Keep up the great work, ESMMC! :D

I find this very hard to believe this was a decision made by a club that when you Google Morris minor, the MMOC has a statement that reads:
Promoting the Preservation and Use of the Postwar Morris Minor. May be is should add
“but not if you are considered competition”

Thankyou Overrider.

I'm having further correspondance with Judge about this, as I didn't have the conversation with the MMOC when they refused the advert, one of my colleagues did.

Hi all

I've just spoken to one of our long term members who said that one of the main reasons East Sussex left MMOC was that there were not enough MMOC members to make the committee - so the insurance would not then be valid. We then took out our own insurance.

Apparently lack of communication from MMOC at that time was another factor (going back 10 years or so - am sure it's changed now)

A vote goes to our membership every two or three years, and so far it's always been to stay independent.

Thanks all for your comments about our rally - we enjoyed it, even though it really was hard work!!

Both are ESMMC members!! the owner of the racing Minor uses it for that purpose (he and his wife have also been on every MoT since they started, and am sure they'll be there again this year!)

Annette and Tony have run their Scalextric at our last 2 rallies, and we have had the track up at our club meets occaisionally! Always a popular one!
