Engine update....respray time!
Took advantage of the perfect weather today and sprayed most of the bits of the engine. I used POR-15 engine enamel, which is also metallic...what a job it was to spray the stuff. Still, i think it looks pretty good!

Well the car is clarendon grey, so i thought that with the engine being a goldseal, why not respray it in gold. I prefer it to the BMC green!minor_hickup wrote:Nice to see it done in components rather than painting over all the gaskets etc. I like to see them! Is the goldy colour to match the colour scheme of the car? I'm looking forward to seeing how it all looks together.

Hmmm i think ill put my valves back in this weekend....i seem to have 2 sets of stem seals, one is the conventional o ring type and the other is a sortve boot arrangement. Are both supposed to be used in conjunction?

I'd have screwed an old set of plugs in and painted over them!minor_hickup wrote:Careful brushstrokes around the plug holes!

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

I'm not sure if the tiny O rings actually do anything useful. Usually they only supply four of the cup type so put those on the inlet valves.youngun wrote:Hmmm i think ill put my valves back in this weekend....i seem to have 2 sets of stem seals, one is the conventional o ring type and the other is a sortve boot arrangement.
