Hand brake adjuster

Post by Metman »

I have to confess that I am an interloper, being the owner of a 1968 MGCGT, though I did have a lovely old Minor 1000 way back in the 60s/70s.

I am trying to source an automatic hand brake adjuster for the C. It is located behind each rear wheel. One of mine no longer adjusts. I was talking to another classic car addict today and he thought that the same adjuster was standard on late model Minor Travellers.

Can anyone confirm or rubbish this claim, please? If it is one and the same part (from old BMC days), is it available? I cannot source one through MG sites.

No automatic handbrake adjuster on a Minor, I'm afraid. Sorry

No - not on a Minor - although 'Haynes' does refer to later cars having a 'square head' adjuster for the rear brakes - usual Haynes nonsense!

Hi somewhere in the back of my mind there is a link between MGCs and Austin cambridge type vans, you know the ones that looked like the fifties A55 and were built well into the seventies, Couldnt be certain but worth a look.
I'll see you on the otherside'!
