Crank Thrust washers

How can i tell if the thrust washers in my engine are oversize or not? Are they stamped like the bearing shells?

Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!

Good question - 'don't know' is my answer! But unlikely to be oversize in an unmolested engine. Mike them and compare I suppose is the way forward.

Why would they be oversized? Crank regrind means oversize, but they grind the journels not the thrust section

Oh yes they do - if there is any damage there they will take a light skim off the thrust faces on the centre main.

I think you will find the o/s stamped on them, and I believe the next size is plus .003''

Yer if they are oversize its stamped on the back... the ones I put in my engine said "STD"

I thought that a crank regrind took the thrust faces out as well - so a .010 regrind would increase the 'gap' by .010 ?

I have just measured my old MM centre main (-020) and it would appear that the 'gap' does not increase with a regrind.
Surely it should because the thrust face must wear?

They won't touch the thrust faces unless it's necessary!
