It was only used on the MG Mutro - which had no rocker breather. Just use the standard cover with breather - the alloy cover is not correct on a Minor, and can increase valve gear noise !

Im sure I've seen an alloy cover on a 1275 with a home made breather mounted where the mechanical fuel pump mounted.
It was a tube up the side of the block

Indeed - extra breathing can be fitted there - but it's low down on the block and liable to collect oil! As long as some form of collector/oil trap is included, it works fine. The breather on the rocker cover is ideal for removing water vapour from the coldest part of the engine - remove it at your peril!

Hmm that's interesting as I was always told the Alloy ones are quieter as they are made from a softer thicker material and hence will quieten things down a little not make them noisier.

They tend to resonate - being rigid Aluminium.

Oh well that's another piece of folklore exposed.

Some also have trubble with the rockers banging against the cover - but usually that's just with high lift cam and/or high ratio rockers - although it can just be wrongly positioned rocker cover!
