Wow, If coke works a treat, just think how brilliant stomach acid would be on freeing rusted parts! I can just imagine myself being sick over captive nuts and hinge bolts!

you need the neat stuff - it's not as corrosive when it's partially neutralised diluted with food!just think how brilliant stomach acid ... being sick ..
I think I'll stick to WD40 for now ;-) and will consider cola if really stuck, but will the caffeine free coke be any good?

All right for squeaky bits but a rubbish releasing agent, Plus Gas is great, but next time if given the chance the Coke method sounds worth trying I presume without the rumI think I'll stick to WD40 for now

Cheers

talking about Gunk, what is the best stuff for disolving/washing away raod grease and grime that has built itself up into a solid gungy layer. The stuff that has stuck to the sump and timing cover of my spare engine when it was in use is terrable. sure it's protecting it while out in the weather, but it will need to be cleaned at some point.
Any sujestions what to use?

Ditto, but scrape away the big lumps first. (stiff cardboard usually does it, and it can be chucked away without having to clean the scraper)I have always used Gunk (bought from Halfords). It stinks but it works!

I've just seen some new freeze spray (by Wurth) which is meant to be good on stuck parts... Haven't used it yet but I'll let you know when I do... Gives the opposite effect but the same result as a torch but you could use this one on the bolts holding your petrol tank...!!
