Damper rebounds

OK so I bought these new as on the old ones the rubber has just perished! and as usual with repro parts these don't fit at all!!! any ideas how the rubber is held on to the metal? glued? So I can remove the rubber pad from the new ones and fit them on the old metal! Thanks

Bump stops! They sound as if they're faulty. Have you emailed the supplier you bought them from.? They should arrange for a replacement to be sent to you.

What I'm looking for a solution to remove the rubber from the new ones to fit on the old ones!

Sorry thinking of wrong part (bump stops at back!). I dont think I'd want to try to stick it together - doesn't sound v safe to me - still think I'd contact the supplier via email and ask for his suggestions. You could always ask him what glue to use! Good luck.

yes i know what you mean frank, well being repro crap it should not be to difficult to get the rubber bit off, maybe try pulling on a corner and then they may come off
i would think some kind of rubber glue to fix back on to your old but better metal
i have bought these in the past and threw them away and refurbed my old ones

if you are coming to the national this year, there are quite a few old stock items like these, some bits may need refurbing

Thanks Lou and dennis!! the old rebounds as I said previously just don't have the rubbers! I think it would be better for the supplier to just sell the rubber! the old original emtal is still strong just surface rust! the new ones though very hard to twist by hand is a lot thinner and worth nothing! I'm coming to the national yes!!! but by then I want the van on the road

by the way anyone knows of a good glue to stick the rubber to the metal?

I've used Evostick Timebond -works well and gives you a bit a time to move it around to get the perfect fit. I use it to glue the carpet to the sills. Holds v well. I think from memory it will stick things to metal - after all sills are metal!!

Yes Timebond will work very well. Helps if you apply some pressure over night by clamping them in a vice, or with a suitable G Clamp. You should be able to remove the new rubber from the new bits, by cutting between the metal and rubber with a stanley knife.

I would just modify/adjust the new ones till they fit! They are very essential - I can't imagine any glue will hold for long if you transfer the rubber pad to the old parts.
