As an aside, could someone define 'run out' for me? I've often wondered just what it meant

...and yes, open to 'jokes', I know - in the context of the above...

Run out in engineering terms = the measured error between a components intended vector (usually rotational) and the actual vector of the component being measured.

Or Run Out of Fuel = walk home
Or Run Out, as in go jogging, something to do with the criminaly insane I think.

Always know it as out of true in laymans language.
Can also be applied when the kettle has run dry and no tea is forthcoming (not a joke)
