Are the torsion bars painted black as OEM spec ?

According to Ray Newells book, Original Morris Minor page 33
"almost all the front suspension components were painted black. The exceptions are the torsion bars which were painted silver, and the unpainted main body of each armstrong damper, although the link was black"

On my lowlight there was no sign of any paint felt on the torsion bars only surface rust!

Yes, they should be silver.

Is silver likes aluminium colour?
