gearbox oil
The gearbox oil does not suffer from combustion by-products and will last much longer than the engine oil. If you use a good quality oil I would expect it to last at least 15,000 miles personally. My modern cars recommend changing gearbox oil at 20,000 (Matiz) and, believe it or not
the Rover 75 manual model says change the oil at 90,000 miles! That's how slowly it will degrade.
