Well the news so far is that the legs were due Jan, then feb and now talk of possibly march. However things might change and they appear in Feb, thing is no one knows. They will be produced and machined at some time. Meanwhile no one has stock of complete pairs and my supplier today said that they had heard of £200 being asked for one leg, I did ask if he was pulling mine, but you know what stories are like!.

Why on earth are they being cast in France ? Labour rates and overheads etc in France are even higher than here - and plenty of places in UK still operating Founderies! There's one in Bo'ness Scotland whom we use for parts for the Steam Locos - and they are always very willing!
We can be sure that the more the supplier of thes parts is pestered - then the more they will realise how essential the parts are - and the higher the price will go!

These have been successfully overturned in Germany by their classic car body. *les wrote:These low emission zones that start in Feb might spread to our vehicles soon, so the lack of parts may be the least of our worries. Well, I might as well join the doom and gloom!!

London LEZ only applies to commercial vehicles, not private cars and motorcycles.
Basically, if your lorry, bus or van exceeds certain limits for exhaust pollutants, you have to pay Ken a special licence fee to use it in the zone. So the pollution is o.k., as long as he can charge you for it

Quote from transport for london website

Just found out the 3.5tonne class is not affected till 2010 October.
But still not sure why a Sprinter built just 12 months later is better than mine. I don't think they updated the engine till 2005 and i'm sure mine is Euro 111 rated anyway.
Lets hope I can afford to replace it in the next 18 months
Annoys me cos I've got a 2001 Merc Sprinter which uses the same engine as the 2003 modelLondon LEZ affects older (pre 2002) Diesal engined commercial vehicles with an unladen weight exceeding 1.205 tonnes.
