To save a few quid having a custom cable made up:
Find a mini speedo, or something similar from another BL car (with the bayonnet type speedo cable connection) and carefully take both apart. At this stage you can fiddle the mileages easily too.
You will find that the mini/similar speedo gearbox will fit perfectly in the minor casing and carefully reassamble
I have just done it and its remarkably easy!
I think my donor speedo may have come from an early marina or other car but not a mini!
