Front hub nut size?

Post by winger300 »

What size socket do i need for removing the front hubs? And is it possible to remove the hubs without using a puller? and without damaging the bearings?

15/16" A/F is the size used from 1954 onwards. Remember that the LHS is left hand thread.
The hub should pull off easily but if it hasn't been removed for a while, then the inner bearing can stick on the stub axle. In this case you'll need a puller to remove the hub. The stub axle even has a small indentation in the end to locate the puller on. The inner bearing will almost certainly fall apart on removal & the inner race can then be difficult to remove. You can try using a centre punch to move the inner race slightly then lever it gently along the stub axle; it only needs to move slightly to free up normally.
