If the very rear part of the boot floor is solid I have used a large strong piece of timber supported by 2 axle stands spreading the load acros the rear part of the boot floor.

Alternativly the front spring hangers alone will work if you don't try leaning on the boot but be careful as the supporting point is quite forward.

I tend to do as already mentioned - I've found tyhe easiest way to do it is drive the rear of the car up on to ramps, then chock front wheels with heavy blocks, then jack up one side of the rear and place axle stand under the front spring mount.
I also use a pile of spare wheels etc.. under the car in case the axle stand topples (very unlikely but asremoving a spring can need leverage, hammers ewt... its best to be safe than sorry).

When removing one spring at a time, the axle needs to be supported - as sittng on one spring and one wheel is not how it's meant to work.
To do that I chock the axle to the body using wood block/s then jack (lightly) under the axle to take out any play.
