Hi all, I have had a pm from packed up and although it is lucid i'm not very good with wiring radio's. I have an old push button radio that I wish to put in mungo (1956 splitscreen that's been converted to neg' earth ) including the aerial cable there are basically four wires on the back
1. aerrial cable
2. brown wire
3. black wire
4. black and white wire
I think the brown wire is the power cable but what are the other two. possibly the speaker, or is one earth. your comments are most welcome.
regards sid
brown wire is live or +ve
black is earth
stripped is the mono speaker output (which needs a return through earth)
The case will also act as earth so I hope your vehicle is negative earth. power for the unit is best applied via brown wire and case. and you can then feed the speaker from the remaining 2 wires

There should be two wires for the speaker so I would guess that the brown is probably the + supply, the case itself is earth, and the black/black and white will be for the speaker.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
Yup radio case earth, Brown live, Black speaker - feed Black/white speaker + feed. As it's mono, it doesn't really matter which way round you connect the speaker wires, as you only get phase canceling with stereo speaker systems.
Hi Alex, I really only wanted it for the period look so it might as well be functional, as you say there probably isn't much worth listening to but I might be able to get the archers.
thanks sid
