Defra consultation re cellulose paint

Post by southerly95 »

To moderators and MMOC committee members:

I attach below a link to the Defra website that is consulting motoring organisations and heritage groups in relation to the licensing of cellulose paint for historic vehicles and buildings. I note MMOC is not on the list of consultees but feel we should perhaps write to those motoring organisations that are on the list to spur government action to improve access to this paint. Thanks, John

As I understand it there is no threat to our Cellulose paint since it will still be available for classic cars.

That is assuming that the proposal is put through. I would encourage all over there to put in submissions agreeing with the proposal, just in case it gets taken away.

I dont think there is a need to panic as the club is a member of the FBHVC which is on the list of consultees.

I did panic and managed to buy some. Available in future or not, It would not suprise me if there were many hoops to jump through to get it soon, club member or not. As yet I don't think there is a laid out procedure for physically going somewhere to buy it when all this kicks off.

I think that the main issue here, will be that as the demand for celly deminishes then the suppliers will no longer feel able to stock the mixing systems, and paint stock, this might have the effect of the premature end of celly supply

I think you've got that about right, even if a supply is allowed to continue.
