semaphore bulbs

Post by steve4063 »

i always thought the semaphore's had bulbs in them.....

bought new bulbs for this car i'm working on and there was no gubbings inside the semaphore just an empty shell.

is this right or is it missing something

i will be sorting it out so there will be flashing indicators as well by the way.

its a 1957 ish car non split but 1000 shape

There are bulbs in there, but not many gubbins :D

It uses 5W festoon bulbs, sadly I can't recall the size

if you can't find the size, let me know, I'll measure mine

i have the bulbs no problem
just nothing inside at all :o

i know there's only meant to be a few bits of wire etc but not on this one.

spoke to my MOT mate he said "yes they are meant to have an amber light visable from front and rear.

but as long as you have flashing normal ones fitted as well disconnetc them and re-connect after he's tested it.

as if they're not connected he'll ignore them.
handy going to the same bloke all the time hey

i have two semaphores from a 56 split, both are not gud but worked when removed.
there appears to be a long wire running up the stem of the orange indicator which connects with the bulb?
if of any help i certainly dont need them, let me know

This isn't a recomendation its just the only place I could find a picture:

As you can see there should be a bent wire with a little spring, Yhe electrical circuit is completed through the metal cap that runs along the top of the semaphore arm.
