Friendly painters in Scotland?

Post by rupert »

I'm getting near to needing paint for my Minor, and I'm looking around for places to get it done. I have asked a few local chaps and they are really only interested in insurance work on moderns - which is pretty fair as there is quite a bit of work to do on my car and I won't be paying top dollar!

I'm sure a lot of you are in the same boat, what to do?

I'm in Scotland (Bathgate)

There is a coachworks in Addiewell that does (or used to do) resprays etc.
Can't remember the name as I do all my own bodywork these days. Their depot is right on the crossroads.

There is a chap (Jim Wishart) based in the old airfield at Crail who has done a lot of work for my friend. His work is pretty good and he is reasonably priced.
If you are interested pm me for his contact details.

Strange comment youngun.

Going to try doing mine by hand with a roller - not as daft as it sounds - will still be 10 x better than it is now even if its a right hash will still be a drastic improvement for a bit of time and the cost of a pot of paint - not being stingy - just thrifty :-)

Just buy a spray gun and compressor - Macro have the kit - and get on with it. Not that difficult - just do one panel at a time - save a fortune !! Yes there are two small spray shops near me (Stonehouse) - but it's still going to cost an arm and a leg to have someone else do it for you.

True, but if the painter doesn't get the job right the 1st time he''ll have to try, try again.
