no wipers - in Scotland - in winter... help!

Hi there,
The wiper motor on my '62 (early) minor has just died. I'm rather worried as its not the brushes, or the wheel box (the 2 things I have had to learn about already!) and my trusty voltmeter gives me 12 V from the connections.

Any ideas? I'd rather not have to fork out £50 + vat + postage for a new one
