spraying the roof

Post by steve4063 »

has anyone got any idea on how to spray the roof without getting overspray

i'm doing it on the drive using celly and its been a lovely day :D
trouble is too lovely as soon as the paint hits its drying but i always seem to have this trouble with roofs

i seem to get lines with loads of overspray
i did have it on the bonnet a bit but maneaged to use more thinners and get a good finish with a rub and t-cut later

I assume by overspray you mean lines in the paint with dry edges rather than overspray on the rest of the panels. When you say you do it on a nice day, is it a really hot day as if the panel is to warm then the paint will dry before it has chance to flow into the previous pass. Alternatively you could be spraying to fast, try slowing down a touch or it could be issues with the nozzle on your gun.

try painting under a gazebo, the direct sunlight will obviously heat the roof quickly

Yes, as said above it sounds like you are losing the wet edge due to evaporation. If you can, spray indoors or out of direct sun as said above!

good luck and post some pics so we can see when you get the nice finish! :)
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
