rev counter

hi friends, can anyone give me a tiny bit of info into fitting a rev counter please. i have neg earth both on the car and the rev counter, but...where do i wire it up? one is to the coil am i correct?

What rev counter is it?

Standard later Smiths types are wired in as follows:

Bullet connector on back of counter - To Coil Neg (dizzy side)
Insulated (plastic insert around it) spade on counter - 12v ignition swithced (so white unfused, or dark green fused from the wiring loom)
Earth (rivetted/ soldered direct to counter body) spade - Earth

One day I'm going to throw something on my site with pics about wiring in the commonly found Smiths counters, because it's amazing how often this is asked on different forums!

No worries - I just reckon so many people want this info that it really would be a worthwhile tech article to throw together some time :)

Heck, if it wasn't for the litigious society we now live in, it might almost be worth throwing a fitting kit together and Feebaying it with instructions! ;)
