tracking and tyres

Post by steve4063 »

does anyone know the tracking settings?

i can vaguely remember someone saying 3mm toe in is that right because the garages don't know any settings (computers weren't about when moggies were made 8) )

also the tyres i have on mine are 155 x 14 and they don't make them anymore aparently.

i also have some 165 x 14 and some super 70's on my various mogs
which ones are they meant to be and what is the modern eqiverlent that can still be bought.

thanks

2.5 mm toe in is tracking setting, so i guess 3 is just as good or might be about right with larger diameter tyres.

155 r14 tyres can still be bought, my local tyre fitter got them no problem on 3 day order. but only in cheap makes like camac

the minor should be fitted with 145 r14 but they are even harder to get hold of than a 155, 165 do work of course, but its a bit like riding a space hopper!

Yes 155 x 14 are available - as are 145 x 14 (both approx 82% aspect ratio). Check Bull Motif and other suppliers. I use the 155 but they are a wee bit wide for the standard 3.5" rims. Wider rims can take wider tyres - but then the steering becomes heavier - if that's ok go for it!. 1/8" toe in should be fine.

toe in

Post by Willie »

The official figures are: 3/32" ( 2.5mm) toe in. Stress the TOE IN, most of the fitters have only ever had to set for TOE OUT on modern front wheel drive cars. As BMC says there is no problem with obtaining
145X14 or 155X14 radials.
