How do you Identify an engine??

Just pop the sump off (15 mins max) undo the big-end bolts for # 3 and push the con rod up the bore and pull it out from the top - just mark which way round it was for re-fitting. Report back your findings!

:D lol there aint no thing like a 15 min job!!

Wont get a chance to do that until the weekend, limited space in the garage means work like that is carried outside. Engine block still in the car lol

Finally got the engine out and "popped" the pistons, all look good.

Does anyone know the size of the nut that holds the crankshaft pully on and which way it should turn?

have tried using a pair of pipe grippers as the spanners I have only go up to 1" or 22mm but no joy.

No chance with that method normally you undo that nut before you remove the engine as its a right so and so and it just tightens with use, what you will have to do is lock the flywheel a 2nd person with a crow bar may help and you will need a lump hammer to help shock it off it might take a few goes, one other thing you have remembered to knock back the tab washer.
