Tail/stoplight Lenses

Post by wanderinstar »

I just bought a new lens for my 1098 and was rather dissapointed with the product. The piece of aluminium that divides the flasher part from the tail light bit had part of a painted design on one side suggesting it was cut from a piece of scrap ally. the second fault was that the lower part of lamp was 3-4 mm narrower than base unit. At about £15 I dont expect scrap metal to be used, and I expect this lens to be same size as the base it is supposed to fit. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, all the tail light reflectors I've had have been a shocking fit with no hope of being water tight. One of mine managed to de colour in the sunshine. :(

Well I am glad to hear I am not the only one with ill fitting lenses. The reason I had to change it was because the reflector piece fell out of the bottom and a Test was imminent. Suppose I could hunt round the scrappies and find a lens with big enough reflector area and then cut it out and glue it in to original lens. (That one fits light body OK. )
