Top trunion rubbers

Post by NZJLY »

Greeting. In the rebuild of my front suspension, I seem to have one set of top trunnion rubbers with a steel insert, the other set without. My question is, will they have any difference in terms of handling, or is it better for the same to be on both sides? Thanks.

I'd suggest that ANYthing to do with steering, suspension or brakes needs to be the same both sides. I'd even go so far as to try to ensure same make of tyres on same axle (but then I'm a picky old git! :D )

Dominic, that's not being picky! i would say that mixing different makes of tyre on the same axle is asking for trouble.

These top 'rubbers' are far better replaced with polyurethane bushes - even if the rest of the suspension is kept on rubber.

Agreed, I found that the modern rubber type were wearing 'loose' very quickly. Since fitting the softish yellow Polyurethane type I have had no problems.
