Gearbox change record?

I was wondering if i set a record time in changing a gearbox today (in a standard 1969 1098cc minor?)
I drove the car into the drive with a very noisy 3rd gear at 3.30pm and drove it out again on a test run at 6.30pm. That is exactly 3 hours!
It is a personal best for me and i am so chuffed that i thought i'd share it with you all!

(Just for info, i removed the engine, then the gearbox, looked out a secondhand gearbox and fitted it, then re-fitted the engine!)

I guess you must've stopped for lunch too then..
I take that long just looking at the manuals trying to remember where to squirt the oil and pump the grease

In your description you appear to have sourced a gearbox within that that 3 hours as well. If so, than that truly is an achievement and I have to say, unfortunately, that you do have rather an unfair advantage over the avarage minor owner so the record in null and void I'm afraid.

Three hours on a bad day it can take that long to get the tower bolts out! Well done "you can't get quicker than a dorset fitter"

Thanks everyone! I was very pleased to say the least, as was my sister who wasn't looking forward to having to drive my dad's pick up instead! I was just pleased that the gearbox i chose to fit turned out to be a good unit as it was a condition unknown box that had been standing for quite a while!

Peetee, I know i am lucky to have an engine crane, sheds full of spares etc, but i am still well pleased with how the job went! You can have all the equipment of a professional workshop and still struggle sometimes!

You must have been going some ! Well done. Confirms my view that it's always easiest to pull the engine out - even for a 'box change.
