I use 0.8mm and that seems fine.

I prefer the .8 - it doesn't help with blowing holes, but does seem less inclined to weld itself to the shroud

0.8 oftem seems to work a LOT better on DIY welding sets.
In theory the 0.6mm should givce more control but, unless you have a professional welding set, it might just give more wire feed hassles.

I use 0.6 mm in a Clarke welder and it's never welded itself to the shroud. Sometimes with thin sheet you need to pulse the welder on and off in short bursts to stop it blowing holes, particularly if you're butt-welding two pieces together.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

I too use 0.6mm in my Clark turbo 150 tE, its fine, only gets stuck to the electrode if I get the arc too close to the work too much or don;t clear out the splatter from the shroud.

anti splatter paste dip works well too.

as Alex said, weld in short pulses to avoid blowing holes.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
