bracket on kingpin for disc brake set-up

Post by wibble_puppy »

hi,

Bigginger was struck by the little bracket plate which has been attached to the kingpins on my van, to support the union between the flexi hose and the tiny short copper pipe which are involved in the set-up of its Marina disc brake conversion.

I can't take any credit (OR BLAME  ) as it was fitted to the van when I bought it, but here's a photo for anyone that's interested.

I wish all the photos of my van were possessed of such spectral majesty and awe 8)

You know your lower bump-stop is missing, right?

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Yes, cheers alex, it's off for my very own brand of "restoration", ie fiddling about with de-ruster and my wee dremel tool...... should have taken the blimmin things off before the sandblasting and respray.....

Well, I've never seen it before, and it's the answer to the problem I've racked my brain over for a long time :)

This bracket is common to the Ital/Marina disc set up, time for some underseal WP. Is the overspray just base on primer or clear coat as well. You will if the former need to seal the paint as both of these products absorb moisture, so if your prefered underbody sealing is breached ,your bodywork will rust away beneath it.

Cheers J, you've already advised me on this - so long ago that you've probably forgotten, thus goes it in ME-restoration-land - and it's down in my wee book of "things to do before the van goes back on the road" which is assuming the status of the bible in length if not in authority

I though War & Peace more appropriate
