Lenght of front doors (2 v 4 doors)

Jonathon saying he had a customer who made a cab for his LCV out of a 2 door saloon (with corresponding lenthening of the chassis) and thus got additional interia space intrigues me.
I've measured my 2 door saloon doors (at door handle width) and find they are 36.5".
Anyone give me a similar measurment off a 4 door so I can see how much increase in interia is gained by the longer doors.

Paul, I've just been out and measured Phoebe's front door and it's 31" exactly at door handle height.

It might seem a little pointless to some people "stetching" a van just to gain an extra few inches but they can make all the difference to my being able to easilly drive.
I have a bad left leg due to birth defect. Nothing serious but it does mean that cramped leg room can spoil a vehicle for me.
My current 2 door has enough room with seat at furthest back postion so what I don't want is to buy / restore a van only to find it's too small.
I suppose I really need to sit in one to check out the legroom in a standard van before I think further about any further ideas of using a 2 door as a basis for a replacement cab.

Hi Paul I have seen that done a couple of times and both used a Traveller cab for the conversion as it was easier to do, and there are a few pickups around made from Travellers.

Another option is to recess the van floor back about 6 inches. This will allow the seat to slide further back for more leg room (I've done that with my van).

yes but these dont have a separate chassis like the LCV.

That's right. They do, however, have a very similar cab section, leaving just floors and B posts to sort out before mounting on the chassis of the van, though some people simply strengthen a trav shell.
