windscreen demister

Post by elainemr »

The passenger side of the windscreen does not clear when the 'screen' demister is on, any ideas? :o

I always open the quarterlight to demist the windows as the heaters are generally not that good at demisting.

Although if only one side is not demisting then the pipe that goes from the heater to the screen vent might have come off.

Where the heater is (under the dash) there is a large black box with the heater control on it and the switch, the pipe comes from the side of that up to the dash.

have a look under the dash and a feel about to see if it has come off.

If the parcel shel if still fitted you may have to remove the glove box liners to get a good look.
Without the parcel shelf it is possible (but not easy) to get a look at these pipes.
The other possibility is that the long rectagular outlet (where the air comes out) has gone wonky. I've seen one where the rectangular outlet has pretty much closed up completely.

You were right, the pipe had come loose on the passenger side, so I pushed it back on and taped it up.

The hardest part was finding a screwdriver small enough to undo the screws in the glove box liner! :x

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
