ACR alternators

Post by minor_hickup »

Can someone confirm to me that all ACR alternators are inter-changeable (besides beefing up wiring)? Also will an LRA 100 fit a bracket that holds an 17 ACR alternator.

Also I've heard of recon alternators lasting only short periods of time, are these the ones supplied by Valeo?

Yes, ACR's are interchangeable, but the 55A versions are a bigger body and need a slightly longer fan belt (Cavalier fwd 1600 is perfect). Don't know about the LAR 100 - sure someone else does though!

My 55A ACR is a Lucas exchange unit bought about 5 years ago to replace the one bought from Beaulieu 10 years ago!

Cheers mate! I wanted to put the biggest output on possible, obviously the wiring will be beefed up!
