Recommended Garages in Central Scotland

Post by Smiggy »

Hi,

This is my first post and am still having a look round your site, so appologies if I am in wrong section.

Anyway, I work for a transport company and one of my drivers has just acquired a Morris Minor (I don't know which variant) from a workshop which has been getting cleared. Now he has been told by owner that this car has been lying stored in the back of the workshop for almost 30years.

We have got it back down to our yard and now he is wanting to fix it back up for use when he retires at the end of the year.

Can anyone recommend anyone in the Lanarkshire/Glasgow area that he can take the car to?

He has came to me as I am a member of the Ford RS Owners Club and have had a few old Fords, currently have a Escort Series 1 Turbo, and asked if I could recommend anyone. I could probably recommend a few Ford Guys but I would feel better pointing him towards someone who knows their way around these little cars and can source parts etc.

From what I am told, car is in good condition body wise, but the engine does require a bit of work. A few parts also came with the car that previous owner had purchased so I'm thinking most stuff will be there.

Anyway a bit of a long-winded post, but any help would be gratefully received.

I will try and get a better look at the car at the weekend and get some info up.

Thanks in advance

There's a few folks on here from that broad area, so they'll know about garages. Best thing would be to get your chap on here himself, and get him to join the club, too :-)

That's the exact opposite of usually happens...
Folks on here will advise where to look to find possible problems on the car.

I have told him about the club and I'm sure he will look into it once he gets in about the car.

I'm going to try and get a look myself asap, but I honestly know nothing about these cars. I knew this would be best place to start asking though.

I'll see if I can find out what model/year it is tomorrow

Cheers for now

Mixed reports about McFadden I'm afraid. He quoted someone on here a very expensive price to change a gearbox recently. His interest is in MGs - where I believe he does a good job, but not inexpensive. Where is the car now ? If it's anywhere near me I could have a quick look to see what needs doing.
