For those who have missed it here is his route to Timbuktu 4800 miles! I understand Ray is leaving earlier and spending Christmas in Morocco

If it's the same as last years trip, the cars are auctioned off to the locals once the trip is completed. Have a great trip Ray :D

Am still alive :) and am very glad to be back home after a month on the road. Many thankls to Justin for pick9ing me up from the airport and getting me all tge way back home - I kept wondering why he was driving on the 'wrong' side of the road!!

The landrover sold within 1/2 a day for a good price. Vehicles are a valuable commodity in most of Africa. The Landy is to be used by a tour company, helping the local economy in Mali which benefits a greatr deal from tourism. Also a large chunk of £££s going to charity from the sale.
good luck and heres to an uneventful journey and a safe return.
the journey was far from 'uneventful' - it was the opposite but all the hassles are now just aneqdotes :D I texted a few updates to ppl whilst en route, but not sure they got posted on here.

Have been asked t write an article by LRO (Land Rover Owners club mag) and will also get some updates onto a website if/when the chance arises.

For anyone wishing to drive to Timbuktu - I can recommend the road route from Bamako rather than the 'hardcore' piste route! (unless you are a massochist)
