I've been asking for advice about my racing minor for a while now, and well, here it is in its current state.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice so far, all has been greatly appreciated.

Its a 1964 shell, so i'm going to race it in pre-66 and pre-60s touring cars, as its eligible under the regs for both. It will have a 1275cc engine with modifications which have yet to be totally finalised, and will initially run with a standard gearbox and differential unit with 3.9:1 final drive. This is by no means ideal and isn't the final specification, but its just to get it on track and save my aching bank balance for a bit, plus it will be easier to drive for me as a novice.

Looks fantastic - I assume you will panel in the rear seat opening. You could get good money for that 3.9 diff - and much better results using a standard 4.2 or even a 4.5 diff. Depends how hard you want the engine to rev in top gear - and what top speed you think you can get! Decent 1275 will rev to 8000 (more for short bursts) which should give a good 100+ mph - depending what size wheels and tyres you will be using. There really is almost NO strength in these rear inner wheel arches for the roll cage to bolt to! And are you keeping the standard fuel tank - if so - expect massive starvation on corners !! Great workshop facilities - very jealous!

Panelling the rear off is a given as is MSA safety regs. Am going to initially run the 3.9:1 as I've been advised too, however I have a full 4.22:1 unit built up to change if need be. Fuel tank will be packe with fuel foam also, which is pretty standard stuff in most historics, and should cancle out a lot of slosh.

The rear arches have strengthening panels which come with the cage, so no issue there. Workshop facilities belong to work, I am very grateful to get to use them!! The Moggy shares space with a 1987 BMW E30 M3 BTCC Car and a Cheverolet Malibu Clasic Touring Car, along with a couple of Chevrons, Brabham F1 car and a few Historic Formula Fords.
