Early cars with wheels held on by bolts were 4.5" pcd. All wheels held on studs are 4" pcd. I really don't know why they felt they had to change ! Possibly to do with common back axle parts with Austin cars.

So would the late series 2 with the OHV engine be 4" and the early one with the SV be 4.5"(?)

As Roy said check if you have bolts or studs thats the accurate way as anything can be changed.

Hi Dan

All Series MM (Side Valve) had Wheel Bolts (4.5" PCD)
Early Series 11 (803 OHV) had Wheel Bolts (4.5" PCD) up to chassis No 228267 (Dec 53)
Everything after had studs/nuts (4" PCD)

I think the early wheels are very hard to find. Although MGB wheels should fit for PCD - dunno about centres.
