First off hello all how's it going?
I have an off road buggy based on a Morris 1000 and it seems to be spluttering alot when it atarts up I have taken the carb off to have a look but can't seem to find much. probably sounds dumb but Where are the jets on these thing???
Also I took out the slide on the dashpot and for some reason it wont stay back in and now won't start, Is there a way to lock it into place or something. It goes up and then just falls back out, How does it normally stay up there?

The jet assembly is directly underneath the piston/needle. There's a big tube with a hex head on it that you turn to alter the mixture (anticlockwise = richer), and inside that is a brass tube that goes down to make the mixture richer when you pull the choke out.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the slide on the dashpot. Do you mean the metering needle is falling out when the piston rises? If so there is a screw in the side of the bottom of the piston that holds the needle in. If you've moved the needle you'll need to re-align the jet assembly and probably reset the mixture too.

What it was is that the whole slide would go up but then slide down. But apparently it was just seized and is fine now.
Do you or anyone know what the mixture setting should be? ie. how many turns out from fully tightened. I have blown through the hole under the float that goes to this with a straw ( as I didn't wanna take it apart ) and it seems fine and not blocked, Or should I have taken it off instead?

The piston assembly should be able to be lifted with a finger and should then
fall right to the bottom with a soft plop. with everything set up correctly
you should screw the jet adjusting nut fully upwards and then turn it down by
twelve FLATS. this should give you a reasonable mixture setting. When the engine is fully warmed up you can fine tune the number of flats to suit your
engine. To do this you will find, just beneath the piston chamber a small
spring loaded 'lifting pin'. You raise the pin until you feel it contact the bottom
of the piston and then lift it about 1/16" higher. If the tickover speed goes UP
and stays up then the mixture nut needs to go UP one flat at a time. If the
tickover goes DOWN then the mixture nut needs to go DOWN too until you reach the condition where the tickover rises slightly and then settles back to
where it was.
