lose oil pump cover on engine backplate

Post by edd »

Im in the procce sof rebuilding a 1098 a series engine. The small cover that is pressed into the backplate is lose.

In the workshop manual it mentions soldering it on to stop oil leaks.

Is this the only way to reatach it or are there any easier options.

The last one I did ,I stuck it back in with silicone adhesive . You shouldn't really get much of a leak there any way , if the pump is not bowed on its flange .
