Van Box Attached to trav chassis

Hi All Has anyone fitted a van back onto the remains of a traveller i know they have been made into pick-ups but has anyone attached the box to the trav..

I have picked up a reasonably solid van box ...some rot in the gutter area and in the wheel archs

It looks like the wheel archs will need moving approx Seven inches forward and some kind on extra bracing to the rear of the petrol tank and some extra bracing running forward from this rear xmember to the box bracing (under seat) on both sides ...

Any ideas??

I'd put it on a chassis, there is no real strength in the Van back. That would need to be stretched , as the car will be about 4 or 5" longer, with the trav front end.

Hi I understand the feeling that the chassis-cab route would be ideal but....and the but is ....i have the solid trav chassis and i have the van back and if it can be modified into a pick up with the addition of some extra bracing surely the next step is add the box???

I think the trav pick up conversion still uses a lot of the strength of the wood, just like on a traveller.

The rear section of a traveller, without the wood, is very weak, but I guess you could weld in some extra metal. That is a lot of work, and I don't think there be a lot matching up. If you just put the box on a woodless trav, you will see that the wheels won't match up with the arches in the box

Bear in mind that the van had an entirely separate chassis, with the body and suspension bolted to it. You're looking at a fair bit of engineering to give the conversion enough strength.
