i washed my wiring loom

now admittedly i do have ME so everything takes me longer and all that

but it took me THREE HOURS

about two hours in i started wondering if it would be sensible to give up and buy a new one as people have been advising me to do

however it's done now and is outside drying

I have washed a couple, but usually give up when I can see the wire colours

I wash the whites and colours together and make pretty colours on things....? I think I'll leave my loom alone.., well done.

well, remarkably, and i am astonished at this, yes! Instead of being black and gooey with years of accumulated road dirt, brake dust, oil, tar etc, it is now a brisk and perky black and yellow (the loom doesn't have red tracers) Once it's dry I'll be able to assess its condition better in terms of frayed bits and so on.

However I do have some swarf in my left middle finger

Just use a magnet - unless it's copper wire of course.

I've often thought of doing mine, but rather than washing it I'd buy some modern sleeve material and heat shrink all the ends.

Most of my original loom has fallen apart so washing it might be the straw that brakes its frayed back!
