Bolt, on top of inlet manifold?

While I was renewing the joint between the exhaust manifold and the downpipe, again. (my, definitely going to work and I'll post the details on the message board, fix having totally failed) I noticed a small brass, I think, bolt on top of the manifold towards the front of the car.
Is this a vacuum take off point for a servo? Or is it something else?
I'm sure somebody will know.

Sounds very much like a blanking plug for the Servo take off. Doris has a servo fitted and the banjo is in about the same place you described.

Not a standard Minor Manifold. Could be a servo connection - don't worry about it as long as it's blocked.

If its a servo connection, it will be on the vacuum side of the manifold, i.e the inlet manifold.

Is the bolt on the manifold between the carb and cylinder head??

If you can't get the exhaust to seal - there are 3 possibilities.The ball end on the manifold may be damaged, the cup on the end of the exhaust pipe may be damaged or the clamp you are using is rubbish!
Check all carefully - correct where necessary - and loosen the exhaust hangers to give the system some free play. Smear of paste round the ball end, offer up the cup end and stick a jack under the front pipe to hold it firmly in place. Another smear of paste round the joint - and on with the clamp. Do it up tight - but not so tight it distorts the pipe cup end. Finally - tighten exhaust hangers and remove jack!
